Does anyone have tips for starting a clerical work at home business?Q) I am a secretary who wishes to start my own business working at home. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has either done the same or has knowledge of it. I would like to find out how to get started, the best tips for getting the word out. I do not have a car, so I also would need to know if anyone has any ideas on customers getting the work to you and delivering it. Thanks.
A) I was a secretary many years ago and when I wanted to work at home I started my own clerical business. I came up with a name for my business and printed up business cards. I started by contacting other business like this in my area to see what the going rates were for different work then I priced mine comparably. I would just go in and ask for a price list or if something quick came up I would call them, tell them the work that needed doing and asked them approximately how much would they charge - of course they thought the work was mine. I’m not sure they would have given me a price if they knew I was doing the same work they were doing.
I purchased Microsoft Office and a Word Perfect Program because I wanted to contact Law Offices that might outsource work to me and they all used Word Perfect. I bought a good computer and since I couldn't afford a laser printer I got a good ink jet printer that mimicked a laser printer.
To advertise I went to small neighborhood printers, told them what I was doing and several of them passed their customers on to me and they allowed me to put up a flyer advertising my business. I went to Law Offices, dentist offices, catering halls, day cares, any place that might have a need for temporary typist and because they were in my area getting to them was a breeze - one even dropped stuff off to me in the evening on their way home and picked it back up the next morning. I even put up flyers in supermarkets, pharmacies, schools, any place that would allow me.
I kept that business for 5 years and although I no longer have the business, one client I developed was the president of a retirement club and I continue to do her yearly mailing list/membership drive down to this day. Keep in touch with past clients with postcards, flyers, etc.

Have fun and most of all be accurate.

http://www.pcworkathome.netI am looking for a work at home position(s) doing clerical work. Even stuffing envelopes for a company.?Q) I'm on disability and can't seek outside employment. I've got 25 years Secretarial/Administrative Assistant experience. I like getting involved with projects, long term positions. I would not mind mailing out mailers for companies. Not the kind that you get paid if they purchase the item or program. I'm dependable, loyal and a hard worker. Call me if you need more information. Thank You, Audrey Pinces 614-777-8437
A) Stuffing envelopes is a scam. Machines do it better and faster than people. I hired my secretary who works at home from an ad she placed in the paper (you can also advertise for free on Craigslist.org). She advertised that she did secretarial work out of her home for $10 an hour. I've been using her for 8 years now and recommended her to other people. You can also advertise at a college that you will type and proofread college papers for a set feeI am really interested in finding a work at home job such as data entry or clerical, are there any legit jobs?A) Please beware....I work in fraud prevention and run into people like you everyday who got jobs working from home and had no clue what they got involved with.
What ever you do -- DO NOT re-ship products for people no matter what their story is or how much they pay you...It's a scam and youre aiding fraudsters... And it's illegal and you can be held liable for all shipments you accept and reship.
Also, never ever accept or transfer money for anyone.
Be careful
