Questions and Answers

Does Nationwide car insurance cover me to drive any other car 3rd party if I am fully com on my own car?

A) Not necessarily. You wouldn't be able to drive mine - it is insured for drivers over 35 only! (unless of course you qualify there). Check very carefully - this is a grey area.

Where can i get cheap car insurance?

Q) The cheapest i have found to be is Nationwide

A) www.confused.com (UK)

what's the grace period on Nationwide car insurance?

A) Well, if your policy expires, you are not covered during the time it's expired. I assume you are asking how long you have between then and the time you renew before your company treats you as a new customer rather than renewing your policy. That would vary by the company, but a lot of companies are dropping grace periods now. For example: Norwich Union has said that changes to car insurance regulations will mean that from January motorist will lose their 14 day “intention to renew” period on car insurance policies. Currently motorists have two weeks' grace between their current car insurance policy running out and when they must have a new one, however in order to come in line with new European regulations this will have to change. The regulations are an attempt to crack down on uninsured drivers. (from http://www.moneynews.co.uk/797/norwich-union-car-insurance-drops-period-of-grace/ ) Best bet, renew on time and avoid nasty surprises.

Am i paying too much for car insurance?

Q) I am in my early 30s. A single male, no kids. I have a pretty much spotless driving record. The only ticket i have had in the past 10 years that i can think of off hand was for not using a turn signal, that was over a year ago. Other than that, nothing in around 10 years. No claims on my insurance in over 10 years either. I drive a 2001 Ford ZX2, its a compact car-for those not familiar with it , it would be similar to a Chevy Cavalier or Dodge Neon. Oh, im paying $700 every 6 months for full coverage car insurance through Nationwide. I have been with them ever since i started driving. This seems like alot. Is it? My friends tell me im overpaying, yet when i call around other places to get quotes i never find anything cheaper. In fact several places have told me to stay where im at. I dont have a problem paying it, but im just trying to find out if this sounds about right and fair as far as the price goes. Anyone out there a insurance agent?

A) http://www.divorcekit.com/Cars/Top_5_Factors_Determining_Your_Car_Insurance_Rate.html Your friends are guilty of exaggerating to you. I used to work with a person like that. No matter what I mentioned, it was too much, and he could have got it cheaper. I mentioned I'd bought a car, and named a price. He, of course, could have got it for less than half that amount. Good--because I haven't bought it yet. Here's his number, go get it for me and I'll pay you $50 for your time. That cured him.

what car insurance is better: allstate or nationwide?

A) Allstate offers a number of discounts...recently a customer service survey was done for 2006 and they had a 85% customer satisfaction rating..also allstate now has Your Choice Auto..means they offer accident forgivness, deductible rewards..you have the possibilty of having no deductible at all...and also they have new car replacement.. meaning if your car is totaled Allstate will replace the car brand new..I believe the car can be at least 3 years old to be considered a new vehicle..so your getting a new car..not just the depreciated value..ex: if you total your 2007 mazda , allstate will get you another 2007 mazda of like kind and all......what other company offers this kind of program??

I am tring to pay my car insurance. It is called nationwide . When it comes up it dont tell you how to pay it?

A) I work for nationwide if you call your agent they can take the payment over the phone via bankcard/credit card or electronic draft from checking/savings account. If your ever late on payment, dont mail in payment call agent or take payment to agent so that it will be paid that day.

What are some good car insurance providers in massachusetts.?

Q) A lot of insurance companies such as (gieco, nationwide) don't cover massachusetts. What are some of names of the providers with coverage in MA?

A) I have Commerce, it's not too bad. My husband has Plymouth Rock. Like someone else said, talk to an agent. Because of Massachusetts Auto Reform, more companies will be able to come to Mass so you'll be able to shop around more for better rates. I believe that starts April 1, 2008.

What car insurance should I get?

Q) I am about to purchase a 1997 Volvo 850R sedan from a private individual. I am in Indiana. I have never had my own car insurance, always being on my mom's plan while in high school and college. Now that I have to set up my own plan, I have received quotes from Progressive, Esurance, Nationwide, and a few others, and everything looks and sounds pretty much the same to me. My mom has given me advice on what kind of plan to get, but I was wondering, is there a good or specific insurance company for someone like me? A male under 25 with a clean driving record and no tickets or violations? Does anyone have any good advice or horror stories from any specific car insurance company? What has worked best with you and your plan? I would like to get the insurance lined up by Tuesday or Wednesday, so any advice on where and how to go about it would be greatly appreciated.

A) One point to remember: your rates are based on what group you fall into. Single males under age 25 pay the highest premiums because that group has the highest risk. Keep your clean driving record with no tickets or violations - that will keep your premiums steady. Go for a reputable firm (Allstate, State Farm, Geico, etc) and avoid the "Billy Bob Insurance and Lawn Care" firms, even if their rates are lower. You get what you pay for. Unfortunately you fall into a high premium group, so VERY important to keep a clean driving record. If you start getting tickets and having accidents your rates will go SKY HIGH, considering you can get insurance at all. And when you turn 26, call your insurance company and have your rates recalculated.

car insurance help?

Q) If I am not on my boyfriends car or my name is not on his insurance... then what happens if I get in an accident while driving his car? Does his insurance still cover it? or do I have to be on the insurance for that to happen? He has NATIONWIDE INSURANCE FULL COVERAGE and we live in MICHIGAN.

A) If you are a regular driver, you need to be put on his policy, if you live with him, you need to be put on his policy. If you just happen to drive it every once in a while, with his permission, an accident should be covered (as long as you are not excluded). Uninsured has nothing to do with it, and even if you have insurance, it will only pay for your medical and first party benefits - your insurance will not pay for his vehicle or the damage to another vehicle caused by his vehicle. Insurance is on the car and as long as you are driving in accordance with the policy terms, you're fine.

I totaled my car. How does the insurance company deal with that?

Q) Will they pay it off or will they give me the money for a different car and I pay off the wrecked one? I'm concerned and would like some advice. My insurance company is Nationwide.

A) Typically they will establish the cost of repairs versus the Actual Cash Value (Replacement Cost LESS Depreciation) of your vehicle and then make a determination to repair your car or total it out. If they decide that it is NOT "economically feasible" to repair your car, then they will decide the value of your car, subtract whatever deductible you have, and send you a check - made payable to you and your lienholder (bank or finance company.) You present the check to your lender to pay off your loan and then, if you have anything left over, you try to find yourself a replacement auto. Remember that they are not obligated to pay you for any late payments or any outstanding balance on your loan or interest. Hopefully your lender will work with you. Good luck and I hope this helps ease your pain!

Im with nationwide insurance and will be canceled on 1/1/08?

Q) okay ive been with nationwide for a while but theyre expensive so i found cheaper car insurance for my car but wont be able to write with the new company until 1/2/08 so since nationwide is canceling my policy on 1/1/08 due to nonpayment will dmv hit me with a 500 fee for not having car insurance for just that one day i dont plan on driving that day.

A) The insurance company only notifies the department of transportation that you have no insurance if you were involved in an accident. Otherwise they do not bother.

How do I get the national disaster act to pay for automotive insurance deductible due to massive Hail storm?

Q) In Deschutes county (Bend Oregon area) on June 12th, 2006 a major hail storm runined many cars. A friend of mine is getting his automotive insurance deductible paid by the national disaster act. The insurance he's going through is Safeco, but for some reason my insurance agency ( Nationwide) knows nothing about this program paying for deductibles. So is there any web sites I can go to for information on how to get Nationwide to do the same thing Safeco car insurance is doing? I need help, I'm in the process of getting my car fixed and this deduction getting paid by a program would really help me out.

A) Contact your local Emergency Management office - http://www.deschutes.org/go/government/departments/sheriff's-office/emergency-management They should have all the guidance you need. Good luck!
